Most importantly Dr. Black has been utilizing the Insight Technology since 1999 and is a Certified by the CLA for use and clinical interpretation, Dr. Black is an expert in interpretation of the data generated by our high-tech Insight device.

The Device has 3 distinct components to measure stress and the damage it has caused:

Surface EMG: Muscle Tone and Energy Distribution

The Surface EMG exam evaluates the function of the muscles that support and move your spine. These muscles are controlled by nerves. This test shows the pattern of how energy is distributed through theses muscles. The exam helps identify area and patterns of abnormal tension and stress and how your body is using energy against gravity. Muscle fatigue and poor energy distribution are signs that a person’s entire health being under stress.

Thermal Scan: Organ and Gland Control

The Thermal Scan is used to assess the part of your nervous system that helps to control your organs, glands, and blood vessels, the autonomic system. The instrument does this by precisely measuring differences in temperature differences along the spine. Temperature is an accurate indicator as to where stress is building up and to what degree stress is affecting organs and glands. Since proper function of your organs, gland, and blood vessels is essential to healing, this test gives us a ‘snapshot’ of how this portion of your nervous system is working.

Heart Rate Variance: Pulse Wave Profiler

Helps the doctor to determine your overall ability to adapt to the environment. It does this by looking at the timing of your pulse, and determining the balance and tone of your nervous system. This exam is known as heart rate variability. A low Heart Rate Variability is associated with aging and poor heart health. Published research has shown that chiropractic adjustments have a beneficial effect on heart rate variability.

Please avoid the following before your first visit:

  • Drinking coffee, tea, and cola drinks.
  • Nicotine.
  • Over-the-counter, prescription drugs. EX: muscle relaxers. * IF you have questions about medications taken prior to your visit, please ask.
  • Excessive exposure to the sun.
  • Bath salts, oils, or sunscreen.
  • Vigorous physical activity.

Do these tests hurt?

NEVER. The tests are completely non-invasive; they do not use any needles, electrical shock or heat. They are designed to receive information from your Central Nervous System.

In addition, the following tests may be performed, if indicated. They map areas of spinal stress, nerve activity and postural changes. The information we gather is stored so that we can monitor progress in your brain-body connection as you progress under care.

Palpation of your spine and soft tissue: Dr. Black will gently feel your spine and surrounding muscles of the back and neck, to learn more about what the structure of your body is like and how well it is operating, so that we know how that is relating functionally to your overall health and well-being. Dr. Black is an expert at feeling for spinal misalignment by hand.

Digital Posture and Balance Assessment: Your posture is a window to your spine and nerve system, as such we take standing postures to accurately assess and analyze your posture, along with bi-lateral scales to measure where your body may be compensating to accommodate for the breakdown in communication resulting from subluxation.

Digital X-rays: If x-rays are indicated, Dr. Black will have x-rays taken of you in the standing position. X-rays show us what your structure looks like on the inside and allow us to determine the condition and position of your spine, stress areas or arthritic changes can be better understood along with a clear expectation for your progression of your spine with time. We use x-ray as a “dating tool” to more accurately determine how long your spine has been out of place, and measure any loss of curves, disk space, and view any other complicating factors.
